Niijima in the Izu Islands

Golden Week in Japan is a kick-ass time of the year when there’s a bunch of public holidays in the same week. Nearly everyone goes away and I was no different, exploring the beautiful island of Niijima. It’s a really unique place with lots of cool rock sculptures scattered over the island (including Domokun!) and some awesome spots for surfing. The Izu islands are located south of Tokyo and couldn’t be more removed from the hustle and bustle of Japanese city life.
